The Thai Royal Army’s Great Domino Drill on Army Day

;
Wow, this is certainly awesome. To some of us, this probably is our first time to see such a fantastic display of domino drill presentation. It’s just fitting to incorporate this kind of unique demonstration as part of the military drills to add in some fun amidst the political turmoil happening in certain countries.

When we hear the word military, the thought of wars, guns, violence come to our minds because that’s what they are there for, to defend the country from those who want to challenge its sovereignty through arms. So, it’s best to have a little bit of fun for quite some time. It eases the citizens’ tensions seeing this amazing stuff, making them see the other side of life. This video footage shows the elaborate drill display of the Thai Royal Army. But first, let’s have a short historical information about it.

The Thai Military or what is also known as The Royal Thai Armed Forces is the country’s defense to protect its sovereignty. It is composed of the following branches: Royal Thai Army, Royal Thai Navy, Royal Thai Marine Corps and the Royal Thai Air Force. It is deemed to be the oldest and the biggest division of the Royal Thai Armed Forces which was created in 1874. It was formed to counter security threats against any possible attempts of western colonization like what happened to Thailand’s neighboring countries, and it made the country blossomed to further development when the country opened up itself to foreign trade.

The Thai Royal Army, being at the peak of its splendor, showed a great drill presentation that has become viral on the net on their traditional parade held on their annual celebration of The Royal Thai Armed Forces Day, commemorating the triumph of King Naresuan the Great in his battle against the forces of Burma’s Crown Prince in 1593. The said event is celebrated on January 18 where the army displays not only their battle stance, but their seemingly perfect coordination.

The Thai Armed Forces cover certain tasks of ensuring the over-all peace and order across the country. They also opened up themselves in extending support to the United Nations for the International Force for East Timor and also participated in keeping peace and order in Iraq along with other countries’ military forces.

On this video, the army is seen marching so gallantly and elaborately to the tune of the Final Countdown. It is so exhilarating seeing them move like dominoes and rippling like the waves of the sea so graciously. They move in perfect cue and seem to have just one mind and perfectly execute their drill exhibition.

The said event happened during a time of political chaos in the country when protesters tried to occupy prime intersections in their effort to bring down the government. And on May 22, 2014, the military has been successful in overthrowing the government and has appointed officers from the Thai military to leadership posts on their national assembly, electing General Prayuth Chan-ocha, the Thai Army’s Commander-in-Chief to be the country’s Prime Minister. Chan-ocha promised political reforms and assured the people that there will be national elections after it.
