Gabriel Valenciano made waves throughout the entire world of social media when he decided to speak up about his own point of view in regards to Mayor Rodrigo Duterte. He took to Facebook to express his thoughts and posted a status update.
His post gathered significant attention, and he was barraged with a fury of comments from netizens who appeared to completely disagree with his opinion. The post drew major controversy, and sparked online debate throughout the entire nation.
He questioned the morality of Duterte on whether the presidential aspirant is qualified to take over the reigns of being a leader of the country while being a model of good example, tact, and values.
He said "Would you hire a murderer to look after your kids? Would you invite a thief to look after your home? In this case, would you, who was born and raised a Filipino with the values and morals set and taught to you by past generations, appoint a president who completely rejects the morals we Filipino's are known for?"
Since then, he has been attacked by numerous people with harsh and ruthless comments, and apparently these comments have reached Gab himself, and he has a few words of his own in his defense.
Since announcing his candidacy for president, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte has been heavily favored by many citizens in the country. He has received strong support from many who view him as the answer for the change this nation has long been hoping for.
Regardless of whether or not Gab's post was right or wrong in the eyes of many, in the end it all comes down to respecting one's own beliefs, even if it is sometimes against what most people believe. We are not divided by having different views in life, but united by having the ability to understand and accept different perspectives that life has to offer.
