The names of the street kids Mark Angelo and Vincent is now resonating in the internet just recently after bearing the flag of truthfulness by returning a mislaid wallet left by a student from College of Saint Benilde.
According to Sunshine Lee’s post, the one who had witnessed the whole scenario, she was passing by along one of the streets in Taft, when she saw these kids running while holding a wallet making their way to a pedicab driver at Singalong St.
The pedicab driver happened to be one of the “tanods” in the involved barangay. Lee’s instincts told her that the owner of the wallet is possibly a student for she can often see these kids wandering around AKIC (Angelo King International Center) at DLSU-CSB.
She confronted the kids and asked about the owner of the wallet and the kids unpretentiously told her that the wallet is owned by “Ate Sam”, a CSB student whom according to them had accidentally left the wallet at the MiniStop, a well-known convenient store. The kids also explained that they were hardly chasing Ate Sam but they weren't able to reach her pace. When the pedicab driver asked if the kids have got anything from the wallet, they had promised that they didn’t stole anything. He even searched within their pockets and clothes to verify if they are telling the truth.
After finding nothing, he commanded the kids to give the wallet to Lee. Lee inspected the wallet and found out that it is truly owned by Samantha Orbe, the one they call Ate Sam. Lee had posted this lovely story along with the announcement that whoever knows the owner kindly told her that the wallet has been brought to AKIC’s security office.
In her last quotations, Lee added that we should hail these kids and commend them for the outstanding honesty that they have shown. Although they are known for bugging students by asking food or something, still, they have exhibited a good deed. They chose to behave in a right way given the opportunity to steal. As what Lee has claimed, indeed, “There’s still hope for our youth.”
May all the street kids become like Mark Angelo and Vincent, despite the hard status in life, they didn’t fail to do what is right. You guys are truly amazing!
