Last 29th of September, a Facebook user with the name "Ate Kim Kim" shared quite a story. Her post started as she told that she was going about her day and had decided to have lunch at KFC. As soon as she was about to finish her meal, an old man approached her and he seemed like he was asking for help. Ate Kim Kim described the old man as someone who has somewhat of a broken or twisted arm. He was wearing worn out clothing along with a black bag. She then said that the old man showed her his arm and that he was mumbling words that she could not understand. Nevertheless, she had handed the old man some money along with other customers in the area. He then showed her a letter that had the words: Office of the Mayor written in its heading.
But the Manager had come before she had a chance to read it. She then worried for the old man being told to leave or get kicked out. But, surprisingly, unlike any manager who would kick anyone soliciting or begging for money out, the manager actually offered the old man some food and had him take a seat and talk to him.
Ate Kim Kim mentioned that the manager even ordered a crew member to have the old man's coins replaced with bills and the manager even gave a bit more than what the old man had in him. The whole time, the old humble man had his face brightened up and looked as grateful as can be, in all smiles and thankfulness.
After the old man had gone, the manager explained to Ate Kim Kim that approached him, that he had a soft spot for the old man for he felt utmost pity especially when he saw the old man's arm. The manager who wanted to keep his name private then said that he has a father about the same age as the old man and that the old man had a child that had a mental illness that left him no choice.
Thus, urging him to provide a little bit of help. It is truly a sad thing that those of us who live a humble life suffer. Those who need most have nothing at all. There are those of us who has it worst. Yet all there is left is to be grateful and be kind. Especially to those who are in need, for they only seek help even through the littlest of things.
This also goes to show that there are still the good in some of us, and that it doesn't take so much to help someone out and make such a big impact in the lives of many. May this good deed inspire all of us to do the same, to be kind, to help, to be compassionate. Would you do the same?
