The PLDT company as most of us know, especially their own users, does not really meet the satisfactory internet speed of anyone who enjoys surfing the web. Even labeled as PLDC by some because of its slow connecting speed. But this APEC Summit, PLDT is kicking it up a notch because they will provide 8 GBPS (billions of bits per second, mbps or megabits per second is their most common internet plan) for the delegates who will attend the meaning. Their user's reactions? Priceless. Continue below.
PLDT has announced that they will provide the internet for this year's APEC Summit where the Philippines is the country hosting. The PICC Complex will be the venue for the important meeting and has been linked with up to 3 GBPS of fiber connectivity and about 100 units of carrier-grade access points to ensure the uninterrupted wifi connectivity for the guests.
They even notched up the hotels with up to 100mbps of internet speed. These include the Makati Shangri-La, Fairmont, New World Hotel, Intercontinental Hotel, The Peninsula Manila, Dusit Thani, and Raffles Makati where most of the guests will be staying.
Now, for the main event. Various netizens have been driven crazy and angry about this news. A lot has expressed their criticism towards the company.
Netizens have been furious about the fact that PLDT could in fact deliver high internet speed but their users are experiencing the worst ones.
Some even said that the country is really just showing off to the guest deligates. They did not only mask the number of the unfortunate people, where they even allotted money to get them off the streets (read the article here: government pays homeless 4k ) but also masked the slow internet speed in the country despite it being expensive.
“We are one with the government in ensuring the success of these important dialogues, and in demonstrating the country’s readiness to host a major conference like the APEC. We have ensured that our facilities in the APEC venues will support the connectivity requirements of the conference delegates,” said PLDT President and CEO Napoleon L. Nazareno.
But netizens do wonder, how about their own people?
