MTRCB Issues the Date to Discuss the Pastillas Girl Controversy with It’s Showtime Executives

;
The Kapamilya noon-time show It’s Showtime has been receiving a lot of complaints lately over the Pastillas Girl Segment involving Angelica Jane Yap a.ka. Pastillas Girl. The complaints were tremendously strong that it had reached the doors of the Gabriela Women’s party.

The Pastillas Girl Segment started to sound as a controversy when some viewers started to realize that the show is somewhat offering a “bugaw serye” which is for them merely not suitable to air in the national television. The segment includes Angelica Yap facing and entertaining suitors chosen from the social media to the different regions in the Philippines whom are hardly competing to win Angelica’s heart.

Due to the proliferating objections, the Gabriela Women’s Party filed a report to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), the institution responsible for inspecting every television show’s content. In the official twitter account of MTRCB, they have announced that the meeting will be held on the 13th of October, 2015 to discuss the Pastillas Girl segment and other matters.

The board kindly asked the noontime show's director Norbert Vidanes, business unit head Reily Santiago, and executive producer Mark Rejano to attend the meeting on the issued date. The board also stated that calling a meeting is the best option to face the strong complaints submitted by The Gabriela Group. Here is the full letter of MTRCB submitted to It’s Showtime executives.

As a vigilant netizen and television viewer, do you think that the Pastillas girl segment should be given a chance to air freely? Or do you think it is just misjudged?  For you, what are the actions that the MTRCB must uphold with regards to the show? Feel free to share your stand below.
